hi, guys

if i put my virgin media smartcard in my dreambox dm500c what will it do?

Nothing you will have to install newcamd & newcamd.config to get it working also you need your boxkey number.

you'll get all the channels that are subscribed to on your package i would assume.

but if you've got 500c, youve got all the channels, ptobably more than is on your viewing card. question is why whould you?

probably a signal issue have you tried manually adding the channels via the frequency's and transponders? ... older dreambox's have problems picking up sky one and a few other channels because the tuner isn't that good on lower ranges but a signal booster fixes the issue.

You don't need to put your card in a 500c, if you put all the roms and keys in and scan you will pick up all the channels.

first u will have to unloop ur card with an unlooper (this unlocks the card) then using a phoenix programmer and nagraedit read ur card, edit it to give u all channels and edit ur newcamd config file(as said by despdan) with ur boxkey...still want to do it now ? a lot of work if ur a noob so id say just do wat everyone else is doing flash an image and ftp the so called magic files to get u free tv......btw if thats a subbed card u have, messin with it is a big no no in this game, not recommended

If you can get an open card,and a valid boxkey from your area,job done.
Dont forget traders cloned muliple boxes with the same boxkey in areas.
In theory its possible this way for the db.

Just to let you know myself & I think red devil have cards working in dreambox. Never managed to copy over to funcard would only work for 30-60 seconds then stop restart box again 30-60 seconds????
