Default Additional Browser Opening - Hijack?

    Hi all,

Sometimes when I go to a site an additional firefox window opens and immediately closes again. I search for it but can find nothing - not even in the processes.

Any idea what that is and how to put a stop to it?

I'm concerned it may be something trying to hijack browser.

Go to tools on your browser
    Internet options
Change home page to Google or whatever

    Then save OK OR APPLY

Just remembered no live links allowed it it should be _www.google.co.uk

Never heard that before as a solution. What does that do?

Don't know anything specific about your Firefox problem but if you think you are being hijacked then make sure you have an antivirus installed and up to date and probably more importantly make sure you have anti spyware protection installed and up to date. Then run full scans with both of them, preferably in safe mode if you can.
Or even better run them both from a live CD as sometimes programs can hide in a running operating system.

Thanks. I'll give that a go.
