    Question WIN XP sound problems?

hi all i am not getting any sound from anything i connect to on the web through any of my media players - my windows plays on board sounds etc and in the diagnostics it shows that all sound is working ok , i have downloaded the latest sound drivers but still no sound ? is there something i should be doing to enable my music player to work ?

how many audio outputs do you have? it would be worth trying all of them but start with the "light green" one. also check your master volume.

more than likely speakers in wrong socket or its a software issue, try another player or system restore as stated.

Get a set of heaphones from an mp3 player or some that you may have pinched from an airline (like i do) and plug them into the green socket for you audio output. Test your sounds and if you have nothing you could have a dicked sound card.

You have not said whether you are using a PC or laptop. A similar thing has happen with one of my work laptops and i know it will work if i reload it (as i tried another HDD in their with a working image) but no matter what I do with the drivers it will not work.. I could have fixed it with System Restore as recommended as a method to you but i did not and it was so long ago..

If you can get hold of a copy of PC Check it will do a system test on you machine including audio (depending on whether the sound is onbaord or a separate sound card) and verify where the issue is.

Ok... you need to start your Internet Explorer, from the menu bar click on 'Tools' and from the drop down window select 'Internet Options'. This will open a window, click on the 'Advanced' Tab, in the 'settings' window you will need to scroll down to 'Multimedia', make sure that you have six of the seven options ticked. You do not want to tick the 5th one called 'show image download placeholders'. Be sure that 'Play sounds in webpages' and 'Play animantions in webpages' are definately ticked. Click Apply and Ok.. Restart IE..

Let us know if this works, if it does not you should download Opera or Firefox.

Instal Mozilla Firefox and all plugins.
Or could be a disabled plugin in IE7.

You know it is possible that IE is blocking these sounds as it thinks they are dodgey and will not run the Active X..

Can you post the link the website you are having issues with and we can test it on our machines to save you wasting to much more time..

Sounds like a speaker config problem here, drop them down to a 2.1 config or headphones.

Have you downloaded and installed an safe alternative brower yet truey?

Try one or both of these:

Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable | Mozilla Europe

Opera Web Browser | Faster & safer | Download the new Internet browsers free

I use both of these as well as IE depending on what I need to do onthe net as some will work better than others for certain tasks..
