Whats the best Dreambox 500 clone? apparently the boxes with dreambox logos arent offical and are badly made and there are a few incarnations that are actually better with different branding, could someone verify, are the blackbox eagle lixus and lixus box dm500 clones? and more reliable than pretend dreamboxs thanks.

Dreambox havent made the D500 for 2 years.. any 'new' D500 that was bought in the last 18 months is a clone.. There seems to be little problems with them.. if they are flashed properly and arent subject to a Gemini bomb they are fine.. The Blackbox is exactly the same inside as the Dreambox clones.. They just have a different cover.. I've seen both a Blackbox and D500 clone without the lids on, next to each other.. EXACTLY the same..

The eagle box is also a clone of a D500..

Buy any.. they are the same in essence..

The blackbox is one of the best, the printed circuit board is a actual Dreambox board unlike other models like Eagle who use there own make of mother board, also to note Blackbox source nearly all Dreambox components (chips and processors ) other makers use less well known components that may or may respond differently & give different results in performance ...

At the end of the day a clone is a clone & with the Dreambox 100 & 600 selling pretty cheaply I see no reason why anyone would want to buy a clone... there are even other receivers that can do pretty much the same like technomate 9000 series followed by a few newer Ip Boxes..

Thanks both opsmonkey alunfennel, I’d read the boxes carrying the dreambox logo were clones and poor clones at that with inferior tuners thanks for confirming guys, opsmonkey I’ve read in various posts there are still genuine dreamboxs on sale, it doesn’t bother me what names on the box just as long as it picks up regular epl ,

you wont find a genuine dreambox 500s for sale unless its a second hand one bought new over 18 months ago..

they stopped making then 2 years ago mate.. they sold out PDQ..

Just because you buy a Dreambox today does not make it a clone.Companies have still got stock,lots of it be a dreambox or otherwise.

er no they havent.. name me a seller that is selling GENUINE brand new Dreambox 500S.. they sold out via official channels years ago..

Every new 500 box on the market is a clone..

Dreambox only make and sell the 500+

And from what i have read a lot of teh clones are probably as good if not better than the originals.

hi andycast,

i have been using the dream box clones for a while now and never had any problems with the actual box themselves, the only problems i had were the power supplys blowing and the remotes packing in. thats just my personal experience m8 and maybe i have been lucky.

Got mine from Linuxsat, delivered in two days and the price was good, so far the box has been superb. Don't know why anybody would want to risk all the agro of importing from china for the sake of about 10 quid.

good point here...why buy a clone of DM when you can buy a branded copy of one...with a local vendor...like the Eagle stb, it comes with support...this is the way to go...

most of the branded clones (Envision, Eagle) have all sold out and i dont think they make them anymore after pressure from Dream Multi Media..

I have only seen Blackbox and badged up 'fakes'
