I have got box from Farango, delivery was really fast and box has already an image (not sure whichone) it works OK and connected to the TV and working fien. I tried to customize this box and I am having a problem with Dreamup, tried to flash my DM500s with DCC and I probably destroyed the original image. I lost the IP address and I am trying to connect to D500s with Dreamup V2..41, and V2.18A, both showing the samte problem. I connect the Null modem cable, press connect , ask me to start the box and then I go message "Got sequence, starting upload" and then nothing happens. I also tried with a new borrowed box from the same Farango and dreamup still has the same error, the borrowed box original image is OK ,but it seems that dreamup cannot connect to it.
can anyone help ? Would it be time to use the Jtag approach with the first box ?

Sounds like the problem may be with the null modem cable if it has not worked on either box.

Thanks Opsmonkey, I have tested another null modem cable and it is the same. I have found out though that my 500s box has got a Max Var Gemini 3.40 image and some posts say that this image is only loaded in the flash memory. They recommend only to use Dreamup and nothing else as this image does not have a bootloader in it. If I factory reset the box assuming the image is preventing the null modem connection with dream up, do you think I can use dreamup then ?

id load an erase image onto the box mate see if that wipes the bugger
