Default Network settings not working, please help me

HI all,

I have to say I am new to this. I have successfully flashed my dreambox 500 and uploaded gemini image I found on this website. This part was quite easy to do. I have two LNB's one for hotbird and one for Astra. I also managed to find programs and install all TV channels and Radio channels.

The problem is to get my network sorted out, I have spend all day fiddling with it but with no success.

When I go to expert settings/communication setup. I have to enter some settings (this is where I get lost).

My setup of the computer is as follows. Vista, I connected the dreambox 500 with Ethernet cable via my wireless modem Belkin. I can not establish a network to download plugins needed. Can someone please tell me what am I doing wrong, and what plugins I need to download.

Also can I update my gemini image with a nul cable and how.

I know I have lots of questions, but please understand me I am new and lost.

Many thanks to all of you.

I have a ruther

Try going to expert settings/communication setup again and tick the box that says DHCP then restart the box... that way the router will asign a working IP for it to connect to and download stuff using your dreambox addons panel

use the dhcp setting or manually like this
i take it modem belkin is your router if so
goto network and sharing centre
click on view status you will see a local area connections
click details and you should see network connection details
you will see the ip adress of your pc starting with 192.168.***.***
the subnet and dns server and the gateway which is your router
goto the expert settings on the dreambox
make the dreambox ip the same but change the last digit on the end to something else
use the the same subnet and gatewayand dns server as the pc
then you should be connected to the net
hope this works

Many thanks boys for your advice.
Here is where I stand now.
I am getting the green dots when I test the line. Then the green dots turn red when I press save button.
What is the port I need to use 80, 20, and do I have to have DNS server ticket on.

Also when I go to blue panel/addons I get the error message when I try to download the addons.

Can't resolve hostname;
:xxx://download.blue-panel.com/XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Can I upload this manually via FTP programe, is so where do I get the program and keys please

I have managed to connect to my dreambox and upload the keys as in the Total Spoonfed Newbies document. I followed the instructions step by step but was not able to open any channels.

Well if Hotbird and I suppose Astra 28e or even if you have you satellite dish pointed towards Astra 19e there is realy nothing to open on any of these satellites as most providers have changed to newer encryptions that have not nor will be opened via keys or Emu for the foreseeable future, The only satellite wort pointing at with the use of a dreambox is Thor at 0.8 West, and this will be short lived as they too are due to change encryption over the next few months.

Default thanks

I was thinking that quite a lot of channels are open. Only few weeks ago my friends in Switzerland had quite a lot of channels open. When did they close the channels.

Your friend is most likely to be using Cardsharing to open the channels that he wants or sharing a card with someone he knows, if he does not use a local card in his receiver this is the only possability.

If this is the case get on to him and ask for a c:line & he will be able to share with you what he is opening.

Default Open channels

Do you know where can I find a list of what is open at the moment and maybe point out to me a link where the most updated roms are please.

Also do you know how to view movies from a computer via dreambox please.

And by the way many thanks for your replay. I am very grateful.
