    Question advice re:complaint to Rgos

    Hi folks,

    I bought an eternity ring for my partner at our anniversay and bought it from Rgos. After 3.5 months one of the diamond stones fell off. I took it back, the girl at the store was nice and said she could send it for repair. Initially I was thinking of replacement but as she was polite, I agreed to send it for repair. I was told it would be two weeks and someone would contact me.

    It had been four weeks when I went to the store, I spoke to a girl at the jewellery counter and said I wasnt happy and wished to exchange the item. At first, she said it was ok and we started looking for an alternative.

    Whilst my partner and I were looking into it, the store manager came to the counter and straightaway told me that he cannot exchange the ring for me. His attitude stank. I had a fair arguement about the delay and the poor service but he couldnt care. At one point, he threatened that he will call the security. (for what? telling him my rights?)

    Anyhow, I was raging, so I chose to make a complaint directly to CEO. So I got Mr Waldens email address and sent an email (thinking the biggies dont like this kinda experience and I was get a response) How wrong was I?

    Its been three weeks since I wrote a long email (sent two follow ups as well) and clearly the CEO couldnt care less.

    So just wanted fellow members advice on who I can complain to? The CEO doesnt care so I dont think the customer services would do any different.

    I have got the record of the emails I have sent.

    Please advise guys.

    OK, call consumer direct, tell them your a DK member, and need assistancse.

    As for the CEO, did you set to 'read recepit' - just incase it's a spam only email, or perhaps he has one of his own computrers, that been sent for repair.

    See if you can call the company rather than email

    I take it you mean Argos .Have you got the ring or argos ,you could contract your local trading standards and tell them that you have contacted argos but got no joy and that the ring is not fit for purpose .Or you could do what I done to Ratners a few years ago I pested them so much that they gave me my money back But dont shout dont get angry keep claim but forcefull read the sale of goods act that apply in your case try and keep in shop with customers about. dont let him take you in office Remember it is argos that gets the bad name for selling crap so they will not want to have you arrested and taken to court for not leaving there premises when asked

    yes it is Argos.. even raging at the Store Managers attitude as if he was ruling the world.

    I was thinking of calling the customer services as a last resort. Thought the CEO must have taken it seriously

    remember seeing a thread here lately about a crap couch someone ot from there and had it replaced even after warranty was up

    found it How long should a sofa/settee last

    I know a bloke who used to work in the jewellery trade. he told me that argos diamonds are known 'in the trade' as frozen spit.

    This doesn't help you in anyway but I thought I'ld put it out there.

    argos are a great company..
    helped me out a few times,
    1.needed a drill to put two holes in wall.so went to argos bought a cheapy at £19
    went home got a polly bag,wrapped it round drill all way to chuck,covered chuck with same.drilled my two holes and took it back for refund...
    2..had a canvas wardrobe,canvas was white and ripped,so bought a pink one from argos for daughters room.opened box carefully slipped out pink canvas.sealed box.took back to argos said theres no canvas in box,got a refund.daughter got her pink wardrobe.

    Bang on advice about the sales of goods act as amended 1979 and tbh most shop managers are not even familar with it you are perfectly entitled to get a replacement if the other one was not fit for use and if it still is not up to scratch then you are entitled to your money back.

    Call in the local trading standards and get them to investigate it for you 1st or you could tell the shop of your intentions and ask for the managers name and say you will be taking this further down the legal route and ask him/her if they are familar with the sales of goods act 1979 as amended the amended part is pretty important and take it from there.

    Try and be courteous and civil also telling them look i bought this in good faith from a trusted brand or so i thought etc etc etc usually they will replace it or give a full refund.

    I agree Ray, they are fantastic.. I know some people ;-) who like to buy faulty goods cheap on fleabay that Argos are still selling, they then buy the same item from Argos, go home then switcheroo the items in the box, take faulty one back to argos for refund, and keep the brand new working item..

    It does take time though. The CEO can't just overrule the decision his manager has made without investigating, otherwise his manager could put a complain in about the CEO. I'm sure CEO's don't like complaints and it might just be that the process has to be gone through which will take time. Probably CEO to director, to customer services manager, through to HR, area manager, branch manager and so on.

    Got a reply from a woman who says she is from the Directors office. Although I'm glad the complaint was acknowledged, the response was dry with no empathy. She is gonna sort out the ring issue which I am no longer worried about..

    Just that store managers attitude is p**sing me off..

    Then wait for them to resolve the issue, then go back to see the manager with a handful of fists
