Default complaints to companies outside UK?

I've just had to send a complaint email to Indowoods who are a Belgian company about a babygate I bought from an austrian company (Bambinoworld).

The problem is, the baby gate is advertised and sold as a swinging gate, yet the parts to make it swing aren't sold with the gate (and there is no mention of this before you buy it).

So after asking in the local hardware shop, and looking online for the parts I then had to phone yet another company (UK based) who also sell the gates here, only for them to tell me nowhere sell the parts needed.

I emailed the Indowoods company, but I don't know how complaining to a company in another country would work. Will they translate my email and read it or just ignore it?

I don't even know how long I have left to send the gates back, or how to send them back to austria, it will cost me a fortune to.

And after looking at everyone else who sells the gates, no one mentions the fact that it won't swing without the needed parts

I wish you all the luck………………

As far as I know from my experience you can not sue any company out side our jurisdiction.

I once took paypal to court when judges in the court came up with the crap that I was registered with paypal in Switzerland therefore it’s outside our jurisdiction and the case was in paypal favour.

I rather deal with Chinese then the euro craps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps, it would be easier, to look in yell.com and find a company of thick fabricators, to make to parts so it does what you want.

do you have a photo of these parts.

yeah i do meaty, i asked in a hardware shop and they said you can only get them from the manufacterer. I might give it a try though, thanks.

I got a reply back from the company saying that the parts will be available to buy 20th october!

What ever possessed them to believe that it would be appropriate for anyone to have a baby gate that needs to be removed completley in order to get past it? Its ridiculous and totally unpractical...
Though the babygate itself is incredibly cute.

the only fine print there is that mentions it is inside the box...

    ..

Oh well in that case, having no intrest in objects that make baby vomit, or baby poo, is it possable to go to the hardware store and get
two 'long coach bolts' to make it, so you can lift it 4 inches, then open it?

    as a compromise.
