From way back when I was but a learner. I was told that if a car joining the motorway is ahead of a car already on said motorway, the trailing car should slow down or move over to allow the lead car to join.

If the vehicles on the motorway all have right of way, why don't slip roads have giveway markings?

Merge-in-turn is a lost art the government have no intention of addressing.

Don't know why they don't have give way markings must have been something to do with ****ers coming down the slip road that fast with no intention of the stopping the wee man painting the lines said bollox one strip of lines is enough for me.

Because traffic merging onto a motorway is not a "Give Way" situation. Merging traffic shouldn't have to stop.

Just to add to this... The slip road is there for you to build up your speed to match the traffic on the motorway, making it easy to merge onto the motorway.

Yet the amount of people I get stuck behind trying to join a motorway doing 40mph is on the increase.
How I don't see more crashes at junctions is beyond me. Two weeks ago I saw someone join while doing 40mph & move straight over to the middle lane, still doing 40mph. The Ford Focus they cut up was doing about 60mph & had to hit the brakes hard.
