Figure this one out ...



3 MEN GO INTO A HOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS £30.00 SO

EACH MAN PAID £10.00 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.

A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY £25.00

SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH £5.00

ON THE WAY THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT £5.00 EVENLY

BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A £1.00 AND KEPT THE OTHER £2.00 FOR

HIMSELF.

THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID £9.00 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL

OF £27.00, ADD THE £2.00 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = £29.00

WHERE IS THE OTHER POUND?

Seen it a dozen times and it will fek with your head if you let it.

They ended up paying £25 for the room, got £3 back which is £28 and £2 for the bellboy which makes it £30. They didnt actually pay £9 each for the room , they payed £8.333. Its just they way things are rounded up.

But it is a cracker.

Not really hard,

£30.00 take away the £2 the bellboy stole = 28,

28 divided by 3 men = 9.3333 Not 9 pounds. So where's the missing pound, it isn't missing.

Its just that this statment is incorrect,

"THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID £9.00 FOR THE ROOM"

They paid £9.3333333333333333333333p each.

they didnt though they payed 9 cos they got a pound back from a tenner so they did not pay £9.33

this is just a mathmatical fook up which makes no sense there is no reason behind it its just an instance of where maths does not work like its supposed too

its been round the block a dozen times in various guises its just a clever loophole in maths

See if this makes any sense to you,

men paid £30.00 instead of £25,00 leaving 5 overpaid.

so they paid 5 pounds too much between all three of them so,

5 pound divided by 3 = 1.66 each the bell boy should of paid back,

He kept 2 pounds for his self so thats 66.6 pence off each person. eg 2.00 divided by 3 =66.6

so its 10.00 - 66p = 9.33.

9.33 x 3 = 28 + 2 = 30.



or look at this way,

Men should of paid 8.33 p each

8.333 x 3 =25.00

5 pounds too much bell boy takes 2 that leaves 3 pounds which was paid back 1 pound each.

so thats 8.333 + 1.00 = 9.33p

9.33p x 3 = 28 then robbed bellboy robbed the 2 which =30.00

it cant be worked out there is no logic the men paid a £10 and got a pound back makes £9 not £9.33 doesnt matter what dress you put on it it wont fit

i understand your theory but that has no relevance because there is no solution carol vorderman couldnt work it out

It's simple math

Do it another way for you,

10 x 3 = 30
30 - 5 = 25
2 robbed +1+1+1 = 5
25+5=30

Or

£30.00 was originally given to the hotel owner
Correct price of the room = £25
Each man receives £1 refund = £3
The belboy takes £2 so thats
£25 for room + £2 for the bellboy = £27

£30 - £27 = £3 which is how much the men receive back as a refund.
