your card will show up as the same and work on any model dslite/dsi or 3ds for now.

i am unsure what you mean,

if you are saying your friends console is on 1.4.1e then that is fine, it just means his console is running older firmware.

Do I do exactly the same with their card as I did with mine, even though their's is a different ver - there's is 1.4.1E and mine is 1.4.2E

They already build the update patch into the latest Acekard 2i kernel. You just download the AKAIO V1.8.9 kernel, and install it, then the acekard 2i card should can work on DSi V1.4.2. Acekard 2i Kernel Download
