Its a new box and under warranty send it back to your supplier and ask for a replacement.

tahnks for the reply, thats an obvious option, however i would like to have a go of doing one if there are any instructions out there or any common known issues ie c14 d7 etc like on other boxes?

Exclamation DEAD EUROVOX EX1000SL

Hi mate, i am just getting into fixing the EUROVOX MAX V boxes myself. I have never seen the inside of the 1000 series to see if there are any JTAG headers on the motherboard ! Is there any chance you could take some very clear pictures of the box opened up so we can all take a look at these new cable boxes structures. It seems these boards are very tempremental and if there are no lights on the LCD it sounds like you need to be looking at the components on the power board ! You have to have the correct power to be able to flash successfully anyway . Have a look at my posts under eurovox Max V etc and read what problems i am having with one certain box giving me a headache . Best wishes from mentorman .

Wink DEAD EUROVOX EX1000SL

Hi mark , thanks for the pics of the inside of the 1000 series . I am not sure about the exact voltage which should be supplied to the motherboard from the power board but i know it effects the situation when you try to JTAG . If there is not enough power the Flash fails and you cannot use the serial com port at the back to upload UFL firmwares etc . I am going to replace a power board in my MAX V tonight and then try again to Flash it. I will post my findings here later. My friend fixes TV and these things all the time and i will ask him what amount of voltage streams across to the Motherboard when i put in the new power source ok.
Is that the 20 pin header on the motherboard to the left next to the wide ribbon ? Best wishes from Mentorman !

This is a new box and so there isnt even a TSOP released for it so going down the Jtag route you will find quite difficult, unless you can read it and then write to it. But you will not be able to read it with the problem you have, so its a catch 22 situation.

The correct voltage outputs will be marked on the PSU board as the ribbon leaves it going to the MOBO. I still recommend you send it back, although you have opened it now they may say you have voided the warranty, (if you have broken the warranty seal).

Was the box working at any stage?

Hard to tell if its a cap or diode problem from the photos. Have you tried a reflash while holding and then releasing the reset micro switch on the main board?

Also check that the molex plug is pushed home all the way. It where the live and neutral enter the PSU, obviously make sure it is unplugged when doing this. Send it back m8 and save the heartache

not tried holdin the reset in
there is nothin bulging or looking remotely burnt out but i know that dont mean alot, i know on starviews the D7 diode has been a culprit to not enough power to the main board, this board has an identical diode AND its marked D7 too?
Trouble is, i cant remember the reading from a functional part therfore dont know if its that

The C11, C21 and D7 were known culprits on the Starview models, however on a Eurovox it was the C14. But as said never had to fix a 1000SL as they are quite recent to the market.

Sats found something interesting

found the voltages on the board so far i have this

12v - reading 6.7 - 11.2 fluctuating
7.5v - reading 3.8 - 4.4 fluctuating

Well one thing you know is you have a faulty PSU. As said I havent had to fix a 1000SL so cannot go any further other than to ask does it have a C14 cap?

I know I keep saying send it back but its your best course of action. Is there a reason to why you cannot send it back or do you just want to try and get to the bottom of it without supplier involvement?
