Default GUIDE: How to Flash a Eurovox

This guide has been submitted with thanks to its author HiTeck, I have changed/added to it with his permission. So all credit and thanks to him.

Firmware Flash instructions.

1. Connect your Eurovox to your PC using the Null modem serial cable as shown here.

2. Plug in the power cord on the Eurovox and wait until (----) appears on the front display. If it has been flashed before you will see 4 digits instead, leave your Eurovox on standby.

3. On your PC/Laptop Run the UFL Eurovox program which you have downloaded above.

3a (Optional recommended step to save you time) If you are just updating you Eurovox and already have all channels.Press the Upload button to save your channel set up favourites etc as they currently are, Save this to a folder on your PC for use later.

4.Click on the 'download' button then wait until you see the following and click start..

If you do not see this – check your connections between pc & Eurovox, also if you get the mesage system reset, turn your box off at the mains, hit the download button then plug your box in, (this may require a few attemps).

5. Now download will start and you will see the following,

Eurovox will now show dnld flashing on the front display.

6. After the above window – the following will display

7. When all is finished the following will display,

Now your box is done.

If you did the optional step at 3a, then using the UFL click browse to where you saved your file (CDF file) and click download in the lower box on the Kuro program, and it will reload your favourites etc as you originally had them, if you didn't save your CDF you will have to rescan your box using the powerscan method which is explained in the "Eurovox Scanning Guide".

Hi niceguy,

the starview 4 is good and is easily updated via usb, it can also be used as a pvr, also the eurovox ex5000, although this box as of late seems to have some bad signal issues.

if you wait till mid 2009 i beleive the high definition versions will be cheap enough although your call.

hope this helps m8.

Yes sammie,

cables normally come with boxes, starview can be easily updated via usb, usb flash sticks are really cheap now and you can get a 1gb for a few pounds.

the eurovox ex5000, is updated via com port older pc's and laptops have this port.

hope this helps.

It doesnt matter regards which one you have as you still need to manually update.
