    Default Help please :o)

    Hi guys,

i've just registered for this forum as i have been looking into buying a Eurovox EX5100 with 120GB HDD from SatBox4U.com for £159.99.
Firstly is this a safe website? I've contacted them and they say the do not sell clone boxes.
Secondly is this a decent price?

Now for my more pressing issues.....

I have read through several other threads and i think i have got the jist of how to do things when i get my box. I have however a few queries.
What is the input on my laptop for an RS232 cable? the only output thing i have that looks similar is a monitor output - i imagine this is not what i want to use. Do i need a usb converter in this case?
My laptop is running Vista home prem. will this affect any of the instructions given for flashing the box?
I read that there may be issues assigning a port for the box when using USB cables, how do you do this?
The box i am gettting does not come with FTA firmware according to the disclaimer at the bottom of the website, will this affect the flashing process?

I have just ordered my Virgin package, and am moving into my first house with my girlfriend at the end of the month so won't be able to test anything untill then, if you can think of any other problems i may encounter (apart from arguements with the missus) i would gratefully accept any advice!

Thanks in advance guys, you all seem to be doing a great job here,

    oh and wish me luck

I just got a bit of a rush of blood to the head when i visited mycablebox and ended up ordering an EX7000 HD......

Oops! oh well what's done is done!

It looks to me like this is a much easier box to set up which suits me as i am a bit slow when it comes to computers....

I have a question though about the EX7000 HD now, will any external HDD work with it or will it need a specific one?

    Thanks again guys

not sure if you know this or not... mycablebox don't have any 7000HD at the moment. I spoke to the guy this morning and he said he'll be getting more stock on tuesday. also the 7000hd haven't been cloned (yet) so you know you'll be getting a genuine box. someone correct me if i'm wrong. let us know how you get on when you get the box.
