Default Loop out connection

Ok, So i have got our EX5000 working more or less perfect, apart from a few tweeks here and there. Anyway....i noticed that our Ex5000 has a loop out connection for connecting to another box. We are considering buying another box for our daughter as a xmas present and i was wondering if its a good idea to connect the second console to the cable feed via this available connection, or shoul i run a new coax back to the upstairs splitter ?????

, you will be better of with a splitter and a a seperate box together, having two of one may affect your signal quality

as the previous post states m8 if you want to run another box split your cable feed or if you have another connection in the house ie broadband you can run it from there

tv broadband and phone all come through the same cable

Hi, I think you may not of understood me properly....we do allready have a EX5000 box connected to our tv in the living room. We do not want to connect 2 tv's to the same box, but to simply share the RG60 feed from the splitter upstairs (which is connected to my modem) by using the RF out on the back of the Ex5000. The manual states the following....LOOP OUT Gives you possibility to connect to another extra receiver (analogue or digital). So as far as i can make out, this does the job of a splitter ???

if you are running all your boxes from upstairs you want to split your cable feed into three not run it too the box and back again

i do not know anyone who runs there set up this way just remember though the more the signal is divided between receivers and the longer the cable runs your signal may reduce you may need to get a signal booster

i see where you are coming from....i am a sparky by trade, so dividing signals etc is simple to get my head around...I was just wondering if anyone had used the EX5000 this way before i try. It will make the installation so much easier if i can run a short 3mtr length of cable to next door...cheers !

Yes you can use the RF loop out to link to another STB if required.

Doing this doesnt affect your signal levels at all, but down side is if the first box is switched off the signal will not get to 2nd point.

I take it that you mean "switched off" at the wall socket, and not having the unit on standby ??
