need help with ports to jtag ex5000

hello all,my box died a while back and now finally have time to fix hopefully,basically reflashed ex5000pvr with a new update and only found out later it was killing boxs,when i turn it on theres nothing,no standby light,sweet f**k all,so got all the kit ready for jtagging,running a pc with xp but no paralell port,the jtag cable plugs into a usb adaptor then into pc,problem is none of the jtagging software is seeing the box re skymax or jtag, obviously the box wont power on but i was reading it should still be able to see the box or is it a port problem,any help/suggestions greatly appreciated......

I did mine about 6 months ago, seem to remember people mentioning to use a parallel ported PC even if it meant borrowing one, as the USB interfaces may cause problems. Any way good luck.

cant find anywhere that says the usb to paralell wont work but cheers mate

finally sussed it,usb to parallell does not work,found a mate with a pc parallell port,excellent tutorial on utube for jtaggin ure precious back to life not forgetting the help and software available here,only took 5 minutes,tanx to all.
