5402 remote control

My remote just stopped working this morning (worked fine last night) I have tried new batteries (3 lots!) - any suggestions or is it just buy a new one. Does anyone know if you can just buy a one for all remote or not. Without the remote the receiver is difficult to use at all and to order one over the net could take a few days to come.

Make sure it sthe remote first.
Use a camera phone and point it at the end of the remote whilst pressing the remote buttons.
If the remote is ok you will see white flashes on the camera.

Tried that no flashes so I presume just need a new remote.
