Difference between Open Media and Dream box???

Hi,
I am a newby and am trying to grasp the difference between the above two.
Can someone please shine some light on this or please point me to a post that does?

dreambox box is either cable or sat depending which one you buy e.g 600c is a cable receiver 600s is a sat receiver. while open media is both it has a switch on the back so you can change
