Default openmedia problems

hi all.
just received my open media 500cs.
set it up for sat and cable, but have only tried the cable side at the moment.
my problem is on the cable setting, some of the channels don't display on the screen, its just blank,in the info box at the bottom there is a key symbol, this is showing up highlighted (blue in colour), I guess this is for the encrypted channels.
but itv4 which I believe is a FTA channel, the key in the info is blue and the TV screen is blank.
my second problem is that I have connected the box to my pc via a rj45 cable through my router, i open up flashfxp, put in the ip and all that,it says connected,
then after a few seconds, it says conection falied, conection lost,
I have read the user guide several times and cant find anything on this.

if any one as any idea it would be very much appreciated, as I am new to all this.

thank you.

Can you tell me when and where did you purchase your box from?

Also what image are you using for the cable side?

Max

Hi M8,

ITV 4 on cable is an encrypted channel, why I don't know.

You need to FTP across the special files from a working image to the box

try dreambox control centre to connect to the box, as essentially thats what an openedia is.

hi portbhoy

I'm using win xp home, through a linksys 4 port router,a rj45 cable from port 4 of the router, flashfxp. I open up fxp turn on box, connect the box with IP show on TV in expert mode. fxp shows connecting to IP, connected to IP, then it says connection failed, connection lost, retry in 120 seconds.

hope this helps you to help me.

thanks mrmarkone

try connect directly without a router.

disable dhcp on the box and set the ip to 192.168.1.10
on the pc's lac card set the ip to 192.168.1.19 and reset the pc and box.
then download coreftp (free ftp client) and connect to 192.168.1.10
remember the username is root
and password is openmedia
