hi. i have a starview the box but a few of the channels are now missing like star plus, zee tv, bbc1+2 and many others. i have tried resetting and scanning near 50 times but none of these channels come. i am in oldham and with virgin media (EX C&W). has anything changed that i am not aware of? any help would be very appreciated. thanks

Hi, my box is the same. Apparently they have not changed all the channels to nagra 2 and bbc1/2 ch4 utv and a few others are still on nagra 1. I am told they will change these over to nagra 2 soon so if you do regular rescans you may find that you will get these.

That seems to be what the encrypition is called. Do you have the box super usb or the box. There is a download available for the box super usb which may fix your problem but you may want to read other forums before you do any reflashing in case it makes things worse.

nagra is short for nagravision. the term is used when referring to the level of nagravision encryption used by your catv provider... In the UK the transmission is via nagra1 in ireland nagra2 is in use as stated above,,,

eirejk i have the box. will virgin media be changing everything to nagra 2? if they do so will i need to install any software or just enter a new code? will my box even work?

no, mate, nothing has changed in uk. ignore eirejk.what box have you got and have you got correct f/ware for it?
try menu, 1570, default then back to slyspts. wait for update. also, missing channels can sometimes be found after 999. loads of others there. try scan with t/pest as well. i get stuff with t/pest and xc/w..in stockport.
do you do factory reset as well? hope this helps. ynwa

i have got 'the box' (thats what it says on the front anyway). this is what info it gives me API ver: 4.51e_E Bootver: 7.0 9.July 2007. i have tried all this but am still getting the normals ones i get with exc&w. will i have to install any new software or anything or will the problem sort it self out in time if i just keep on rescanning it? if i have to install any new software how? i am in oldham using virgin media if it helps. thanks mate

yes, mate, you need latest software. pretty sure you have an sv1 or sv2. different software for all 4 boxes. you need a null modem cable to download from pc to your box. also you need to get software from the above red stickies. it can be a bit daunting at first,but well worth the effort. i'm not used to sv1/2 but the guys here will help....

Leave it in standbye mode during update, ie clock showing on front of box.
