My GTRom Problems (Help Please)

i have 2 star view 3 boxes and have tried putting the GTRom 8.200, 8.00 etc.. on both boxes. the problem i had was that only one box would download completely (and only after trying on another computer)
the other box would not.
the box which the GTRom is now not working

any suggestions to why some boxes will work and others wont?

All you have to do ith these boxes is:-

1. plug in box to the wall.
2. join up box to pc with null modem cable.
3. click download - and wait until message download complete appears. You should also wait until the box displays numbers again (i.e. 0001).

If the download is not taking try having the box turned off then hit download and quickly turn the box on. it may take a couple of trys or put the box in standby mode.

it may be you have a faulty com port on your pc?

ive tried that.
its definitely not the port/cable etc...

the software will download to one box.-- but my box now reads dL and nothing appears on screen? any ideas for this?
can you reboot a box or something?

turn it off on rear switch , start the gtrom d/l , turn it on quickly and it should flash again , leave until its finished , factory reset and scan etc

if it fails , keep trying until it kicks in

dL means its stuck on download. I would say reflash it but clearly you are going to have problems if your pc aint talking to the box. You say you flashed one on another pc - can you try that one to reflash?

i cant get to my menu or anything to get on factory settings?
screen is blank. ?
even when ive removed from computer and plugged back into telly where box would usually say "on" now only reads dL?
any ideas?

ive stuck to using the pc it worked on but it still doesnt work

if i plug my box back into the computer it either says flash failed -- or sometimes it will download. but even after that it still just says dL on the box.
do you know how to stop it being stuck on download at all?
and can you remove GTRom that you've put on?

if you had read the previous replies , you would see you were asked to switch it off , send the flash download and switch on again , and keep trying this until it flashes ( use gtrom 8.02 )

its called a forced download , so please do as asked or ppl wont reply when they are being ignored

do you think if the software is put on again in that way my box will no longer be stuck on dL(download)

sometimes it can take a dozen goes to get a flash in on an awkward box , so ya gotta keep trying until its successful , usually more than once

if you can get an older gtrom in like 8.00 then do so , but until you get a good one in its no good trying anything else , once you have a good flash in and tested it boots and works , do a factory reset from the menu

then load the latest 8.02ee one in and factory reset again , then do the scans etc using 1570 menu
