A sequel, The Marine 2, has been filmed, starring WWE superstar Ted DiBiase Jr in the lead role. Unlike the original, it will be released direct-to-DVD; the current release date is December 29, 2009. Also unlike the original it will be rated R instead of PG-13. A small teaser trailer was released in June 2009, featuring new footage showcasing DiBiase. WWE superstar Randy Orton, who was a former Marine himself, had originally been scheduled to play the lead role but could not do it due to a collarbone injury.[6] The movie is inspired by true events.

A sequel, The Marine 2, has been filmed, starring WWE superstar Ted DiBiase Jr in the lead role. Unlike the original, it will be released direct-to-DVD; the current release date is December 29, 2009. Also unlike the original it will be rated R instead of PG-13. A small teaser trailer was released in June 2009, featuring new footage showcasing DiBiase. WWE superstar Randy Orton, who was a former Marine himself, had originally been scheduled to play the lead role but could not do it due to a collarbone injury.[6] The movie is inspired by true events.
