    Cool

I just bought one last week, a Samsung 830. Boot times are incredible, your pc is ready to go in no time. Also applications load up really quickly. I would be careful about which one you buy as many have stability issues & stop working, however the Samsung 830 is highly rated for stability.

Also look at hybrid drives. These have a 500GB sata 3 HDD & an 8GB SSD in one unit with a smart system that puts regularly used programs on the SSD to boost load times.

It gives you the best of both worlds. Fast load times with good storage & it's a lot cheaper than straight SSD's

    Thanks but...
I wouldn't buy anything hybrid! It's always could be two problems in one unit! I see it on the cars. People think that they save money for the gas, but after they must buy battery, they go crazy. And used battery? Even worst...
Hybrid drive will survive probably same time as HDD, unless SSD portion will still work after HDD portion go bad.
Only straight SSD solution. Prices are pretty good, but question is which one to buy..

Sata 3 is compatable to sate 2. Difference being you will get sata 2 speeds.

Currently am running Q6600 with sata 2 chipset, bought ssd with sata 3 capability, this gave my current setup another 12-18 months

Going by what has happened to SSD's so far. I think you'll find the standard HDD side will last a lot longer than the SSD.

Look at it this way. I looked at shifting to SSD a month ago. Ebuyer had 120GB Agility 3 SSD's at about £90. A 500GB WD Sata 3 drive was £55. But a hybrid drive 500/8GB was only £70.

£15 to tack on 8GB of SSD speed for your OS & most used programes.
