Has anyone tried the maplin usb to serial adaptor on the kryptview or any other box?

according to USB to null modem cable

it appears it works on dreambox so should be ok. gonna grab one tomorrow so will post back after trying.

theres not much garrentee that this will work,i got one from
me local pc shop and it never worked,you might be better off
with a pcmcia card thats if your pc will take pcmcia

its a laptop and has pcmcia but they are a bit dearer.

just found pcmcia one in comp shop nearby at same price, do ALL pcmcia serial cards work?

as far as i know they work better then the usb one

ont know what to do now. might just get the maplin one and if it dont work I'll take it back and get the pcmcia one.

thats the one i bought a couple of years ago for my desktop use it on my dreambox never had no problems )

I use one on Dbox2 and dreambox no problem you just need to make sure that its on a com port less than 10 ive found! I just change it in device manager and it works fine

Yep.

I got one from Maplins (though it's purple!!!!!!).

Works a-ok on both my Kryptview and Technomate.

Recomend.

I brought one from Maplin, works a treat... good thing is, that if you lose the software like i did you can download it from the maplin site.
Money well spent in my opinion.

looks like maplains it is then, i got an ebay one it was a pile of s**t and didnt work, ended up getting a pc card to do it, but gona get a maplain adaptor for the laptop. do they work with vista??

i've brought 2 over last year or so and both did the trick with dreamboxes and max232 on modems also worked with infinity usb card programmer for mosc . good usb to serial well worth money

the cd that came with it doesnt work so no manual
