Best place to buy dm500s genuine

Hello peeps

Can someone kindly tell me where i can buy a genuine dm500s for cheap?

I would like a brand new box to set it up so i can watch sports and asian channels

you wont find a genuine box mate.. Dream stopped making them nearly 3 years ago.. Only clones are available now.. If you want a really good box get a Technomate 500S.. or just buy a cheap clone like the Eagle 500S or even a badged Dreambox fake

wont i have problems in finding software for a clone box plus i dont want it to brick

im gona use it to become a client on a server

people are advising me to get 600pvr, i cant afford that, im a novice as i am moving from cable world to satellite, hopefully you can help me set up my dm500s so i can be a client and share someones server

buy a clone d500 there are no problems.. i recommend linuxsat

if you know nothing about setting up a home network and how to make your ISP static it'll be very hard..

its a lot more complex than just patching, which is what was needed for cable

Quick question if anyone has a sec, can I flash the firmware via the Ethernet using a crossover cable or do I need to buy a null modem cable with a USB converter?

you can flash with ethernet, you have to FTP to the box, upload the image file to the /tmp folder, then telnet onto box and run cp command to copy image to flash ram

easier method is via null modem cable using dreamup - takes around 30 minutes.

Thanks a lot for that, the only problem is I only have USB ports on my laptop. Null modem + USB Converter likely to work or just prove more difficult?
