To Spoof or not to Spoof

Hi all first time caller here.

I recently got the RROD of death which i fixed all be it temporally by replacing the xclamps but eventually the xbox just died so i got a cheap one from eBay that had the open tray fault.

My thoughts were to replace the drive from my RROD xbox which is an Hitachi 47 into the new(to me) xbox which has a busted Liteon 74850c.

My question really is it better to spoof the Hitachi as a Liteon or can i just put the DVD key from the Liteon into the Hitachi?

If i do spoof the Hitachi as a Liteon can i ever revert it back?

    Cheers

As your spoofing, the Lt firmware wont be safe for live from my understanding, if your not using live i would spoof the Hitachi with 1.51 as it plays every wave of games.

LT is perfectly safe if your making sure what your using is rock solid and verifiable.
So long as ABGX says its verified then its perfectly safe on live.

Just make sure that images are SS version 2 and that they have valid splitvids and your fine.

The only reason to get banned nowadays is by doing something stupid, like slapping any old disk in or accepting major updates without a stock drive.
I can see the goalposts moving at the end of march though.

i know LT is safe for live (for now), as long as you flash from stock, but i didnt think you could spoof LT firmware and be live safe
