SNR Frequency Signal Problems DM800 HD

    Hi Ladies and Gents,

I have a dm800 HD clone with nabilosat blackhole image enigma 2.

Like it says in the title I have a problem with the SNR; I am currently using an inline sat booster to produce better signal however this has only dropped my SNR level with little improvement in quality (dropped to 40-50's)

I have a quad lnb installed to my non-motorised sat dish (55cm) three wires are attached to lnb, one for freesat, one for sat box and one for another sat box. One sat box & freesat are connected using a dual cable using 4.5mm cable.

One sat box is producing SNR of 80-90's (dm500 clone) while my dm800 is producing half that. This especially when watching HD channels produce a lot of sticking/freezing.

I was thinking, as I am currently not utilising freesat enough I was considering combining the freesat and sat box cables at the lnb end and connecting copper endings as one and do exactly the same at the box end in order to get a better signal. Will this work? The other box that is producing 80-90 SNR has a 7mm thick cable.

I look forward to your replies comrades.

yes is common my dm800 clone is similar problem when using a sky minidish, discovery hd shows around 59% to 66% floating causing slight freezing but once i connect to my 80cm dish with 0.1db icecrypt lnb i get 71% to 80% and no feezing, it seems they need a powerfull signal for the odd couple of hd channels, but i also have genuine receiver dm800 to and signal is the same on that it needs a high feed.. not tried a signal amp

also with the new bl75 dm800 i have found the gemini 470 image is alot better for signal on minidish be worth a try, this is if you have the L3 tuner i just checked mine i have 71% on discovery hd when plugging in minidish now i changed the image

So you don't think it's anything to do with the cable quality?maybe if I purchase a better quality thicker cable which could possibly give me a better signal/frequency.

What type of cable are you using?

i have come across a few people online with the same problem and for them an inline amp did the trick ,that said the snr was still only around the 70% mark but with no freezing .
i love it when a dreambox comes together.

The inline amp has decreased the SNR unfortunately for me.

my suggestion is bigger dish 0.1db lnb that works spot on for me, but i must say gemnini 470 image does make a bit of differnce for a mini dish

Cheers bubbles. But I think it could also possiblyvbe to do with cable quality as well. Why does the dm500 with a PLO image pick up better snr via the same dish which is puzzling me. A case of trial & error me thinks.

Its just the tuners in them the dm800's need really strong signal just the way there built, dm500's have a strong tuner just the way there built i have sat and played run test on them all,

I'm going to try a zone2 sly dish (I currently have zone1) with a 0.1 icecrypt lnb as bubbles suggested.

Cheers for your suggestions bubbles69, hopefully we can all work together to get to the bottom of this widespread hd problem.

Tried the DM800 using a better quality cable and bubbles your right, it's not made a difference at all. The snr is still the same. Looks like the dish will do the trick hopefully.
