OMG OMG OMG ... i bought a ps3 like yesterday guy showed me it working etc all was good i got it home set it up changed the display settings from 1080p to 1080i all was good i started watching a trailer saved on the hdd and it turned off and i got YLOD wot the hell ??????? allthe warranty stickers are intact etc and the guy was generallly shocked he sed he had not reallyplayed on it for 6 months and tht he wud give me my money back if i cud atlest get it back on for atleast 10 seconds just to show him it was already broke before i took it home i just cant believe my luck if it has broke just in the space of picking it up and setting it up any help wud be much appreciated and it is an 80gb console ???

l had this on a hdmi xbox once . m8 had if for months and was fine as soon has l changed the settings to my hd set the video card packed in

Have you tried removing the hard drive etc.

Removing Video lead and trying without it?
Pull plugs and HD and try and power it up.

also i forgot to mention you could try this

turn off your ps3.

turn on again holding the power button until you hear a second beep, this should reset all video settings on the ps3

if this fails, turn it off again also switch it off at back

switch on at back then hold the power button until you hear three beeps, it should now ask you to plug in your ps3 controller, youll then have a list of options, go to restore default settings it might work

no luck

tried all that and nothing just the yellow light and 3 beeps i get nothing on the tv i really dont know it wasnt on long enuff for the ps3 to even be warm??? how can i tell how old my ps3 is ?

i cant remember exactly how ye tell mate, but google ps3 date codes and youll find out, i know its sumet to do with the serial number

I had YLOD, but I got it working again. I pressed the reset button and kepped tapping it when the system started then it worked.
