how to scan for S*y freeview channels?

I have got a TM 5200D stb motorised dish, and have scanned a few sats ok, my only problem is trying to get the free sat channels, on S*y UK Astra 2, 28.2E when I scan using 1.2
I am only picking up about 40 foreign channels and no S*y ones.

i have tried a few times but still no FTA channels from S*y.
Dont know if it is a transponder issue?

Hopefully some one can point me in the right direction (no pun intended!)

The sat i am scanning is listed as 28.2 east.
    Cheers.

you will not get sky channels to view as they are encrypted.

I have a 5400 usb super and i am using my sky freesat card in my patched box to get the sky freeview channels. Im not sure if your box has a card slot.

I have reason to beleave i need to put it in my sky box now and again though.

      Regards

Even the FTA channels? How can i view BBC1 etc?

After scanning, i am not picking them up after a scan ie none are even listed.

a freesat box will give you bbc1-4,itv1-4 and so should the technomate, make sure it has a live feed and not pointing to another sat
            Freesat Channel list

Free Digital TV Channels - freesat

as sky uses that you should get a big list of channels and some fta maybe 80 or more.

i will check when i get home tomorrow, looks like the satellite the dish is pointing to is not astra 28.2E althought the reciever is telling me it is when i select 'freesat astra 28.2E'.
I will move the dish either side of this setting before a scan, and see what i pick up.
If I mind right , BBC Persia is a channel on this rogue satellite.

I've just done a wee check and found that the sat I am picking up is either Hotbird 8 (13.0E) or Eutelsat W3A (7.0E) , according to king sat site, these are the only sats showing this channel.
Now next thing is if the info on my reciever is duff for picking up 28.2e ie where i select what sat i want to scan (other sats i scanned are ok), then how do i go about homing in on this sat?

                cheers.

If Iwas you I"d set the box up for USALS that will find all the sats automatically once you have set one target sat up correctly.have a read of this quick guide I"m sending.

                    Thank you very very much!

The instructions have been brilliant and very helpful.
I have now set it up for using usals insead of disq 1.2.
The coordinates that google maps gave me was a couple of degrees out (google gave my coordinates 56N and 3E i used 56N and 1W to get best signal.
                    28.2E is now found ok.
I cant pick up 4W sat (my dish is 90cm and may be too small?)

Any way main problem sorted thanks again, your help was much appreciated.

glad I helped.you can still keep adjusting your longitude in the motorised settings say 0.2 degrees at a time either East or West to get the max signal.it may be your dish alignment is not 100% that is why you have to adjust the longitude in the stb from what your actual longitude is.I think google has made a mistake with your location though as 56N 3E would put you in the north sea somewhere off the coast of scotland.

                            Usals rock!
I'm now picking up 30W (dont think theres anything on it though that latest softcam will open) but I couldnt find it until the usals got set up.

One question....if I replace the box with a spiderbox say, will I set up usals using the exact coordinates I now use with the technomate?

                            Cheers.
