Eurovox EX1100 USB Purple Light Fix Help Needed!!!

My eurovox ex1100 usb box is in a standby like state with just a purple light showing, this was caused by a bad flash (i tried flashing with the beta firmware) anyways theres no on screen picture(just as if the scart lead was unplugged) and the remote is unresponsive. I've done some searching and know i need to run a loader uvia rs232 using a null cable. I am a complete noob and still couldnt follow some of the instructions on here for a fix.. So heres where i become a pain, can someone possibly give me step bystep instructions being as thorough as possible to fixing this, Posting links if possible where neccessary and it would be greatly appreciated.

Im under the impression i download a 'loader' (not sure were from or what one)

connect box to pc using the null cable

Turn on... then im unsure from here i hope someone helps and i think if someone takes this up it would be agreat help to other newbies.

    thanks in advance

Cheers guys, and as for that second post i realise its a fix but it has me a little coonfused, heres what i cant get my head around

        power off box

        conect null modem lead

run loader - After plugging in and turning on how do i 'run' it? send it to the box by null cable? if so how do i do this?

com 1 - whats this mean?

click connect - im guessing ill be prompted with something on screen here

        power on box

select main code - main code?

then select your abs file from your pc (normal file you would put on usb stick ) - should i use the same file that caused my box to have this problem? or did it dot hat because the firmware was corrupt

click connect and will load file blue light will come back on best reflashing with usb again

        And once againt hanks guys

I don't have this box but by reading posts in the past this is how I see it

the loader (upgrade.exe) is an executable file so you just double click it

com 1 = the port the null modem cable is attached to (the com port in the loader needs to be set at the same port as the cable is attached to)

click connect = a connect button on the loader

main code = after you click connect it will open another box that gives you various options of which one will be maincode, it will also have a browse and a connect button.

browse to your abs file and highlight it then click the connect button which hopefully should flash your box

the abs file should be Ok

what is your location (nearest big town) as you might be in a nagra 3 area and wasting your time.

are you only using a null modem cable or null with usb adaptor

I'm not certain but I think your area will be on nagra 3 which means if you get the box working you will not get any channels apart from 1 to 5.
Sunderland and Washington which are close to you are on nagra 3.

go into device manager and check in Ports (COM & LPT) and see what Communications Port (COM?) is connected to

Well i know 4 other poeple with this box and 2 with the discontinued slimline and theres fine but anyways when i go into there i see this

                      communications port (COM1)
                      ECP Printer Port (LPT1)
RIM Virtual Serial Port v2 (COM7)
RIM Virtual Serial Port v2 (COM8)

IF i right click communications port (COM1) and click properties it says

                      bit rate - 115200
                      date bits - 8
                      parinity - none
                      stop bits - none
                      flow control - none

If i click advanced i see a slider that says

recieve buffer and is set to 14 high
                      and
transmit buffer which is set to 16 high

And the com port number is set to com 1

                      Any ideas? thanks

you are connected to port 1 so the loader needs to be pointing to com port 1 as well

                            thats correct

it should work if you are following the instructions correctly
but you could also try changing the ports to say 2 or 3 and see if you have any luck
