cant find icon to play game ??

my son just shouted to me that his ps3 wont load ?? or some thing ?? when you try to find where the game should be its not there ?? but his mate just invited him and he can play that way ?? any ideas ??

i have looked around but nothing ,

Is he playing a game from disc or a downloaded game stored on the hard drive?
If it from the hard drive then it sounds like the bluray drive is faulty
