    I don't think so as long as you use a good converter.
    It depends on what pins the device uses for steering the dataflow like dts/rts. A good converter supports all ways of dataflow steering.
    Biggest problem is to map the cable/converter to the right com port certainly if this com port is already in use by another (on-board) serial port. If you know your way around in windows you can easily solve this problem.

    I now have 2 serial to usb converters (one in a cable and one integrated in a device) both mapped on com1:
    Connecting them both to my pc is obviously a problem; If I disconnect the first one and connect number 2 I have sometimes driver problems and have to reboot to straighten things out.

      just buy a converter and you ll be fine.

      Compra un convertor usb serial..i todo ira bien.
