Call me stupid, ok thats enough! but I've put my HDD in the slot upside down, yes I know what you're asking "how on earth can you do this" unfortunately it is very easy as the way it goes in is actually upside down and I put it in the right way up, confusing I know, anyway, having put the disk inthe correct way, the disk does not work! Have I fried the disk, or worse still, have I fried something in the receiver??

i am not sure what you mean, but is it a SATA HD, maybe you need to check the cable connection, it should still work if its upside down i think.

Sorry for the delay, cup of coffee, no its a PATA the type that goes into laptops (i.e. 2.5"). It is being recognised but it won't record or pause live TV it just locks up the system!

hi mate i did the same thing with mine and i had to do a global reset on the box to get it to recognise and play or record from the disc drive.
