Help - R4 Stuck on Loading

Just bought an R4 card (black) (just says R4 Revolution for DS (NDSL/NDS) for my nintendo ds. Have tried putting on the Woods firmware and also the R4 V1.28b firmware. Both times screen is just stuck on "Loading". What am I doing wrong please, and how do i fix it.

I've already removed the dstt firmware menu etc. etc. that were on the micro sd card, so it's just the games on there plus the R4 firmware.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Hi Debbie
1. First of all is your R4 card genuine or a clone? (Holographic sticker on the back of card ?TRUTH ENQUIRY?)
2. What Is the machine/console, (NDS, NDSL, NDSi or XL)?
3. Has the console firmware been upgraded? (assuming it is an NDSi)
4. Is the 1.28b software/firmware from a reliable source?
I only ask these questions because I was plagued 3 or 4 Christmases ago when I bought 6 R4 cards from different source and 4 of them turned out to be clones.
To my knowledge (normal) R4 cards do not work in NDSi consoles, but the (normal) R4i cards seem to be backward compatible working in the NDS, NDSL, and the NDSi
2 of my kids wanted face book on their DSis and upgraded the firmware to 1.4 at the time (BIG MISTAKE...at the time).
I have obtained updates and firmware from different sites which have caused problems for the kids. The site that I find most reliable can be found at the link below.

Advice!!! Copy the content of your micro sd card to a folder on your computer. (Back it up)
Obtain a fresh reliable copy of the firmware/software needed.
Extract the firmware/software to a folder on your desktop. Inside the folder should be 4/5 items. (depending on which firmware you obtain)
Format the micro sd card using FAT or FAT32
Open the folder and copy the 4/5 items onto the formatted micro sd card
Now copy 2-3 game files from the folder that you used to back up the micro sd card.
Put the card into the R4 card/console and test.
Fingers crossed all should be well and the rest of the game files can be added.
Hope that this has been of some help. (sorry for the essay)

Thanks for your help. No there is no holographic sticker on the back of the card, just the R4 one on the front. It is just an ordinary ds lite.

The firmware i downloaded was from a reputable site. The website thats on the box to get the firmware from just comes up as a blank page, not much help!

Will try some different firmware and see where we get to

Tried the firmware from the site you linked, unfortunately just the loading screen again. Did a fat32 format before putting it on as well. Card as not been updated before as only arrived this morning.

Make sure you're using the right wood firmware there are 3 now

That's where i bought them from, and it was the R4 ds that i bought, as both consoles are just ds lites. Tried the firmware that is on their download links, plus the woods firmware from their links, plus the firmware from the R4i sdhc for the plain r4 card, but all say "loading"

I have a DS lite/R4 revolution for NDS (original) card and use Wood v1.17 firmware. It's working well with most of the new games i've tried (Monopoly, Black Ops)
I am very happy with the results and uploaded the firmware to the downloads section

woods should work on that card.

Wood_R4_v1.17.rar

1. download this
2. then extract files you will now have a folder, open folder
3. copy the "_rpg" folder and "DS.MENU.DATA" file to root of sd card. (do not put them in a folder)
4. add a game and give it a go.

ps. just had a thought....

what size of sd card are you using?
your card does not support sdhc cards, so you can only use cards up to 2gig.
if your microsd card says sdhc on it then it will not work.....

I will give the woods link you gave me a go. It's a 4 gig Kingston card. Sorry couldn't work out what gig you were trying to say.

No it doesn't say shdc on it just R4 Revolution for DS (NDS/NDSL)

thats your problem....
you can't use a 4 gig sd card.
you need to get yourself a 2gig card and put the woods firmware on it.....

on a positive note.
those cards work really well with r4 woods firmware on ds/dslites.
will play almost everything once your up and running...

follow the instuctions and use the firmware i posted.

Wooohoooo! Found a 2 gig card, reformatted it and followed your instructions, and yayyyy it works! So Woods firmware on, loading screen gone! Games working!

Thank you very very very much, you have made 2 boys very very happy and they say thank you! At last can get rid of the dstt cards and have some new games that work


Edit: Are there any cheats that you can use with the Woods firmware pls? If so where can i get them please.

extract the files and drop them all into your "cheat folder" which you will find in your "rpg" folder...

have a read here.

it is a guide on using woods with your r4 and will show you how to manage cheats.....

remember woods firmware gets updated regularly.
keep an eye on the forum for update links.....
