Just put this firmware on an original r4 revolution for ds card and it plays absolutely everything.I recommend anyone with a ds/dsl who is thinking of buying a flashcard to save themselves a few quid and buy one of these.You can pick them up for between ?8-?9 including micro sd card.The only problem is they only support upto a 2g micro sd card.Which is not really a problem because that can still hold 20/30 games.WOODR4 is right up there with AKAIO in my humble opinion.

I believe I have an original R4 card, silver and black, R4 Revolution for DS, original firmware is 1.18/
I have the following folders and files in the root of the R4
_system_
Games
Moonshl
_DS_MENU.dat
_DS_MENU.sys
_DS_MSHL.sys

I am trying to overcome a white screen on startup on some new rom downloads
My Sims Sky Heroes
Club Penguin EPF Herberts Revenge
Zhu Zhu pets

older games and some other new games working OK

Got it sorted, Ill put steps here in case anyone else is unsure
first back up the microSD card, keeps the kids on side.

remove _DS_MENU.dat file and replace it with dsmenu.dat,

remove _system_ folder and replace it with _rpg.

The new games now work

I noticed the save file has a different extension, they were .SAV, they are now .nds.SAV
I have renamed my daughters existing saves with the .nds.sav file extension, do not know if it worked, I started a couple of games, but do not know if the game is at the correct place.
I will report back

hi m8,
just extract the files straight on to your sd card, then delete any read me's.
if prompted select "copy and replace".

yes you may need to rename your save files, akiou and woods firmware use file extension .nds.sav , where as r4 cards use .SAV

Did both my daughters R4 cards, renamed the existing .SAV files to .nds.SAV, all their existing game save information is retained.

mint worked a treat on 1 ds with v.1.18 but my other one has v1.21 and i just get stuck on loading is there anything out there i can put on to combat newer games.

yep, most of them are m8,
if it says anything about sdhc or can take a microsd card of more than 2gigs, then its probably a clone of dstt card.......

i've came across a woods firmware supposed to work on r4 clones....
you could give a try and let me know if it works.

i dont have an r4 clone to try it.....

If it has original firmware above 1.18, its a clone

i took system and (ds menu dat file) off the ds and dropped in rpg and (wood nds nds file) and stuck on loading so i would say its no go unless i have done something wrong.

After having tried the wood firmware (introduced to me by barrowmanandrew), I must say this is a comprehensive firmware as oppose to the original R4DS firmware.

Highly recommended!!!

I am now looking for a new card which support sdhc memory card. My search seem to suggest that the R4i Gold is a good option.

Before I make the decision, I would like to get some opinion on any other card which support wood firmware and sdhc memory card?

no m8, in my opinion the best card to go for acecard2i....

doesnt use woods firmware but uses a firmware called akiaio firmware, which play everything.....
