FIC AN11 acpi problem, Power supply always on!

    hi to all

because i couln't think about anything else, i decide to ask for help!
The mobo is a FIC AN11, which was working fine till the power supply went dead!
I've fit a new one, and now this are the synthomes:
As soon as i give 220v the power supply kicks in
When i shut down (win XP), everything goes off except the power supply, i need to unplug it to turn it off.
Press the power button for the 4 seconds does nothing...
Basically the power supply is ALWAYS on, unless i cut the 220 volts.

    I've reinstalled the bios (VHA43)...
ACPI only S1 and S3 available...
I've tried to disable ACPI but does the same...
I have another pc, with the same ACPI modes, and that one turns off ok....

    Any help is welcome...
    Hit Thanks if helped you!
    Thank You for the help!

    FIC AN11 Motherboard Support Site

    if possible update your drivers

*is a bit slow for the drivers/bios setup page its ftp*

~Welcome to First International Computer, Inc.~

    Manual

    ftp://ftp.fic.com.tw/motherboard/man...n11_a1_eng.zip

you might want to go into your bios check your settings and power management

disable any wake on like lan/modem i think this board has some settings on it.

if you have changed any power management settings on windows xp might
want to reset them to default here is a link to show you how

use method 1 which is simple.

Power scheme options are unavailable on a Windows XP-based computer

if you still cant find anything wrong check all the hardware to see if anything
is faulty starting with the drives. sometimes faulty drives can cause problems
    like that.

    goodluck

if the PSU is normal until plugged into the mobo, you've almost defo got a hardware fault with the motherboard, i'd guess the PSU switching stage has given up ( prob caused by your previous PSU going pop ) a motherboard usually switches 'on' the PSU by pulling the green wire on the atx connector to 0v ( you can test a PSU by linking the green wire and any black wire ) so i'm guessing that the green wire is being permanently shorted to 0v by the motherboard even when off.

See the pinouts for turning on an ATX PSU HERE

If you use a continuity tester on the corresponding pins on the motherboard, between where the green wire would go (PS_ON#) and any pin that would connect to a black wire (COM) , i'm guessing they'd be constantly connected.... proving motherboard fault .

Not to hard to live with though eh ? I've had PSU failures cost me 100s before.
