Hi all im currently having a nightmare with an oldish laptop I recently bought. It says boot mgr is missing so i went looking for a solution to that and found out i could boot from floppy disks which was fine, i did that then i had the problem of not having a windows disk spare so i bought a new one now the darn thing wont read any disks (cds) so im stuck with how i go about sorting this boot mgr message any help???

You have to choose the option to boot from disc in bios settings,then it should -
By the way, "Hirens Boot CD" compilations has an extra tools, for all kind of trouble.Comment

Not a biggie, but you'll have to reinstall a new copy of windows.
You can also try to boot from a windows cd, choose repair
"fixboot c:"
But i thing the simplest way for you will be to reinstall windows or LinuxComment

ok so try this : you must boot with windows cd and type R (for repair) and after windows password, type the tree commands. (type enter after each line)
fixmbr
fixboot c:
chkdsk c: /r /f (or chkdsk c: /r /p)
reboot your computer, hope its work for your !
