usb mouse keeps disconecting and reconecting

my usb mouse keeps disconnecting and reconnecting itself
sometimes every 2 or 3 secs
I've tried it in another pc and its working fine
its driving me nuts
windows 7 advent desktop and microsoft mouse
it worked fine for about 4 months and in the last week has started doing this more and more often
any clues

does it need cleaning underneath,was there a disc with the mouse that may need to be removed and installed.

bought a new bush mouse tonight........that seems to be working fine......wonder if one of the windows updates knackered the microsoft mouse......either way I'll steer clear of microsoft perriferals from now on
