    OFW 3.05 > 3.55 - Data corrupt Error 8002F997

Hi all, ok so i recently bought what can only be described as new (it has been used about 4 or 5 times to play dvds) 80gb PS3. It is on firmware 3.05 and has never been updated. I am trying to put ofw 3.55 on then cfw 3.55 but everytime I put the usb stick in, It starts installing but gets stopped around 67-70% mark, then it says Error Code 8002F997 data is corrupt. I have tried getting ofw from many sources, but the same happens every time. I have always tried via micro SD in an adapter.

I have tried other firmwares to, 3.15, 3.41, and 3.50. The same happens every time. I also quick formatted the HDD so the ps3 is as new. Ive also tried both usb ports. Is it worth trying a cd too?

Im happy to take on any suggestions here as I really want to get this up and running, but cant see why it would halt at that point. I mean if the PS3 can see the firmware (stored correctly on the usb) and start to install it, it must be a software issue.

Thanks for taking the time to read and I would be interested in your suggestions.

Have you tried installing in recovery mode?

Press and hold the power button till it goes on then off again. You will hear 1 beep during this process.

Now press and hold till you hear the ps3 beep twice.
You are now in recovery mode.

Insert you USB device and install the ofw.

    Then repeat to install CFW

I did look at this but it appeared this will only work if you want to re-install the same firmware. I may be completely wrong! In fact, I probably am. I will give this a whirl when I get home.

Just read it may be worth downloading on a different ISP...Ill plug my orange dongle in tonight and use that instead of the Sky BB wifi.

      Thanks for your help

Also I wonder if downloading to an NTFS Windows and then transferring to FAT32 USB stick would have any relevance? Anyone know?

If you google this error code you will find that it is an internet fault either your router is playing up and needs a restart or replacing try this see if that helps
