Problem with R4i revolution for DS with v1.4.2E

i have one of the older R4i cartriges. it came in a black box and it has no image of v1.4...etc. i have tried multiple different variations of the R4i firmware but none deem to work on my DSi (v1.4.2E). I just keep getting a black screen with writing which says 'an error occured etc etc'

Is there any firmware out there what will sprt this problem or will I have to get a new R4 card?

i doubt it, some cards can be updated to run on newer consoles, but i doubt your card can.
