Can't view BBC HD properley on 40" TV.

Hi everyone, firstly Happy New Year to all at Digital Kaos..
I have just got a Sony 40" TV from Sainsburys (awesome) and I am using a Eurovox 1000SL, but it won't display BBC HD channel? (rows of blocked lines), is this due to the limitations of the 1000SL?
Do any of the cable recivers have HD capability?

You need a HD box in order to view a HD channel mate.

The Dreambox 800 is a HD receiver but it costs around ?300.
