email addys as user name

i think we should stop people using there email addys as there user name,, its just not right in this kind of forum.. you may as well just give your house addy out,, come on lads use your brains!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we can advise them no to, but i dont know how admin will feel about stopping poeple doing it

There's no way we can stop them, you can use whatever you like as long as it's not already taken.

Most of the time it's caused by Google Toolbar auto filling in the fields and they never check it until they see it on the forum!

Is it not possible to lower the amount of letters/numbers in the username or block on sign up characters such as @, co, uk, com, or is it something once allowed would be hard to undo as it would mean getting rid of people with username with these characters in?.

common sense normally prevails and out of nearly 30k members i think the peeps that use an email addy as a user name are minimal

the option is alway there for the few that do, to contact mods or admin and ask for a name change
