Celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson arrested for shoplifting at supermarket

    Jan 9 2012
CELEBRITY chef Antony Worrall Thompson has been arrested for shoplifting cheese and wine at a supermarket, police said today.
The Ready Steady Cook star, 60, was cautioned by police after he was caught stealing from the Tesco store in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.
The former I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! contestant, whose restaurant business has been hit by the recession, was caught while using a self-scanning till on Friday, January 6.
According to a newspaper, a camera had been set up after he was spotted by staff not paying for some low-value items on a total of five occasions.
He was stopped by guards leaving the store in front of shocked shoppers, it was said.
A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: "Thames Valley Police arrested a 60-year-old man from High Wycombe following a report of shoplifting offences in Tesco, Reading Road, Henley-on-Thames.
"The man has been issued with a formal caution for these offences."
A Tesco spokesman said: "It's a matter for police."

This is brilliant!! Don't Tesco sell his range of cook ware??

    From cook to crook
    From wine to fine
    From snail to jail
or should that be lobster tail to slop pail

Probably won't get jailed and just a fine.

Any ordinary person would have been fined. Seems the law has turned a blind eye again.

It's all politics m8, coppers are told by there senior officers to hand out cautions for first or minor offences, it free's up the courts and officers, but most important, there clear up rates look better.

I like how he and spokesmen for him are trying to make out that he has a illness called klemtomania (a psychological compulsion to steal for a thrill)

I blame the Government, the poor guy is obviously disengaged from society. His local cookery school has closed down due to cut backs and he's not allowed to hang around street corners with his mates anymore.

They go to all the trouble of setting up a camera and then give him a caution.

he has been treated the same as any one else,
I come in to contact with the police a lot, when they bring people to us under section 136,
and they tell us, sometimes they don't know why they bother,
the majority of people they take in, walk away with a caution, once someone accepts a caution it's classed as a crime solved,
so when the league tables are published each year there clear up rate look good. (orders from above)
he's committed a petty crime, he's a first time offender, anyone else would have got the same.
what is a load of crap, is the admission that he has a mental health problem and needs help,
he thought he'd found a good scam, and he broke the eleventh commandment,
                              Thou shall not get caught.
