Acekard 2i for my DSi running v1.4.2E

I have purchased said Acekard 2i for my DSi which is running version 1.4.2E.

I am just a little confused as to what to download onto my formatted SD card. Is it the AKAIO file or the update or both?

Not got that far Mr Barrowman. I have formatted the sd card and that is where I got confused between updates and AKAIO thingymajigs. (that's a technical term by the way)

I am presuming with nothing on my sd card, the Acekard will not show up as anything but then ... as you may have already guessed .... I have no idea.

Yet another query .... oh yes, not only am I clueless, I also like to know the whys and wherefores ...

Why is my new dsi on version 1.4.2E and there are 1.4.3's?

I did find your download for 1.4.2's - Digital Kaos - Downloads - acekard 3ds v2 and dsi 1.4.2 upddate
is this what I should do or can I upgrade my dsi to 1.4.3? I am, once again, presuming (and therefore am probably completely wrong) that a higher numbered version will perform better?

no dont upgrade your dsi.
it will block some flashcards from working in it.

put the acekard in the dsi, look at the bottom screen and see which icon the card shows up as.

this will tell me which firmware your card is on and wether it will work in your console or require updating...

Shows what I know. I formatted my sd card using your download - thanks. Again, stupid me, I put the Acekard in and it is coming up with Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian.

well that is good, that means the card is up to date.

1: download this.
2: extract the files
3: copy the _aio folder and akmenu file to root of sd card. (root means don't put them in a folder together, just copy them over individually)
4: add some roms and your done..

Strange ... my computer is not showing them as zipped ... there must be an unzip working without me knowing!

Going forward ... do I now need to look out for 1.4.2 updates from your good self or look out for new versions of AKAIO? Hopefully if I know what to do, I won't have to bother you again.

Also, I know you mentioned somewhere that clean roms are the best - anyway of checking the ones I have - i know we are most definately not allowed to recommend sites

anyways, i use roms from here.
for backups of games that i have paid for of course..

Sorry for the delay. The place I bought my original one from doesn't do them anymore. I got mine from NDS Gear who were a recommended retailer through the Acekard site. I have also used them before. So far,so good.

same acekard different version

Dear Mr Barrowman, or anyone else who can help .... I am doing a card for a friend. The only difference is that they have version 1.4.1E. Do i just follow the same procedure. My card is showing Prince Caspian when I put it in my dsi, would it be different if I put it in a different version dsi? I can get the dsi off my friend if I need to but just thought I could do it off mine.

your card will show up as the same and work on any model dslite/dsi or 3ds for now.

i am unsure what you mean,

if you are saying your friends console is on 1.4.1e then that is fine, it just means his console is running older firmware.
