I do sympathise but when all is said and done he was a copper and they know they will be dealing with the scum of the earth when they sign up and will always be open to some tw@ taking a potshot, I do believe the guys on the front line should be getting the big money not the muppet's who are sitting behind desks taking no risks.

I really feel sorry for that pc,and his family.Moat really ~~~~ed his life up.

My brother's a copper,he knows what he's potentially in for,but at the same time he's my brother,and I don't want any ~~~~er to go shoot him in the face for nothing.

Job or no job,we're still all humans with emotions and feelings,and don't deserve anything remotely like that.

My friend you need to be a little careful here for just blaiming the wife.
Me & you will never know how all of a sudden their lives compleately changed for the worst.

It mush have been hell for both of them, dealing with the sudden change of life style.
dont forget how long he spent in hospital & recovering at home, while wife looked after him.

Wifes have left their husbands for far less than this.
Mabey she just couldnt cope anymore.

You will find that this is the norm in most cases, when a tragedy like this occurs.

he had been arrested a few months earlier for assaulting his wife, (charges were dropped) but it must have been so hard for both of them coping with all this,
i feel sorry for his kids, he could have stuck around for them

When you marry someone it is for better or worse. She might have felt that nothing was worth living for anymore after the tradgedy that happened but she didnt decide to leave then.

She only left months later. She actually stated 12 months ago they split.

I often wonder how many married couples would actually cart there partners about after troubled incidents like this.

I am just proud to say i would be one of them.

I said my vows and so they stand till the day i die of old age. Or until she decides to stick antfreeze in my beer.

A very sad story indeed but i feel that this man is no hero and certainly not brave, in fact he is a coward and took the cowards way out. Hundreds of police officers get life changing injuries as do our troops in the various war zones. They have to pick up the pieces and move on with their lives often for the sake of their children. This guy has left his children without a father. If he was brave he would have rebuilt his life and been there for his kids.

Losing your sight must be terrible but what about pepole who suffer paralysis such as christopher reeves. He only had the ability to move his head very slightly and spare a thought for a yound lad who survived throwing himself in front of train in johnstone scotland. The doctors saved his life but they had to amputate both his legs and arms to save him. He was only 15 years old. I bet his family wished it was just his sight he had lost.
