Tappin case bail refusal 'outrage'

The wife of a retired British businessman accused of arms dealing charges has described a US judge's decision to refuse him bail as an "outrage".

Christopher Tappin's wife Elaine said the move to remand her 65-year-old husband in custody was "heartbreaking".

Judge Robert Castaneda ruled Tappin must remain in custody after US prosecutors told the federal court in El Paso, Texas, he may be a "danger to the community" if released.

The Americans consistently refuse to extradite their citizens to other countries for trial so why did the British government allow this poor man to be sent to America?

The extradition treaty has always been one way, has any American been brought to the UK for trial?

He was doing his job to sell arms what we produced to kill people under the govt licence..

Any business man can not sell arms to Iran, Syria, and Palestine that could be the only reason behind his arrest.

Why he is personally danger to the community (confused) just doesn?t add up.

it sounds like this guy is being setup ,, u remember all that about that company that was said to be selling pipes to iraq years back and the yanks said it was pipe to be used to load rockets . his lost his company and staff and so on and its was oil pipes in the end
