    Eurovox 5100 Virgin power levels

    Hi,

Can Anyone help please, the box works fine but my cable modem that works off the same wire is having problems while splitting the signal for eurovox.

downstream power level with cable direct from wall to modem makes 0bdmv

with a 2 way splitter i get -4dbmv to start with then after very short time drops to -7.6-8.5dbmv

    any ideas?

    thanks in advance

Try your subbed box (from supplier) in conjunction with the modem, if its still the same call them out.

Have you tried swapping the output wires from the splitter to rule out problems with your cabling/connectors.

    Have you tried another splitter....

yes all cable combinations produce the same effect. removing the splitter makes net work fine all the time as this is below the -6.0db. im guessing the splitter is causing my problems as its dropping the power levels by 4db.

Is there a way to reduce this 4db drop?

without the isolator this save about 1-2db but really shouldnt operate without this
      .

      thanks for reply

Yes you need to keep the isolator in-line, as said try another low loss cable splitter.

Edit, buy a good quality splitter, I've always found konig to be one of the best.

no other has been tried yet , i am going to pop to local tv shop see what they say but im expecting them to say call cable co out.

maybe i could use Item number: 370107491028 from ebay instead of a splitter ?

ok, still having the same issue,

virgin engineer has stated all levels are fine the downstream should be -10 to +8db (which is true mines at -7.5)

ALso there was a problem with the tv wiring now fixed and engineer has left

                        i have the same problems

                        snr =26
                        power level = 8.5

according to india the power levels in the area are bad (although no reported issues on their service status)

engineer that arrive suggested maybe the cable from box out side needs replacing with newer cable

                        any other suggestions?

I don't quite understand, you had an engineer out and he has left without fixing the fault?. If he said to you that the cable may needs replacing with newer cable then why haven't they arranged a time with you to fix it.
