eurovox 5000 pvr hard drive doesn't record

Had the box for about a month. It came with a western digital hd installed. Always seem to have problems recording (i.e. it wouldn't record or it would lose whatever it had already recorded) except when I took it round to my girlfriends who lives 20 miles away and then it records fine. Was told by the seller it might be because my signal is not strong enough. Info shows about 80-83% at home. Will check at girlfriends at weekend but could this be the reason. Will also try connecting the box before the splitter.

Strange that mate, Did you use the same scart lead at your girlfriends house? Try changing it for another and try the record again.

      exactly the same problem

With my EX5000 exactly the same thing happens! It will usually record but as soon as I put into standby with the controller when I try to turn it back on it will have lost the recording. But would have worked fine b4 I turned it off.

It does it on both my boxes that were bought from two different suppliers 1. Bubbleboxes
      2. Mycablebox

Both do exactly the same thing! It's useless as a PVR at the moment because of this, any1 have any ideas why this would be happening??

hey guys, CAREFULLY pull the hd out and push back in all the way home with a bit of pressure a few times to establish a good connection on brand new box/hd. I had same problem on 2 out of 3 ex5000pvr bought back in november and this seem to solved it.

The scart leads were the same but I'll try reinstalling the hard drive and see if that works, thanks.

Unfortunatly I think unless someone writes a firmware update to rectify the missing recordings issue it will just carry on.
Now what I do is after switching the box off (to standby), switch it off at the back, wait 10-20 seconds and switch back on at the back, then wait until the clock shows 12:00 and switch back on and the recordings re-appear, a bit of a pain but better than losing the recordings I think.
            Hope this helps.

So what do people think it is the fact the hardrive isnt installed all that well or that it is buggy firmware.

It is a little annoying that you have to do this. Also my box doesn't seem to record if i request a recording on the EPG and then turn the box off to standby. It works if I leave it on. Is this how it works or a fault.

              thanks for peoples help

Have had my box a good while now fitted my own 80GB drive and have had no problems. When you refit the drive look through the vents on top to ensure you get the drive in square on the pins. The scart lead will have nothing to do with your problem

Have you tried a reflash but also carry out a factory reset after doing so and without the HDD installed.

PAL is used but Multi will also do. Glad to see you got it sorted.
