you only have bubbles because you have no apps....you need to install a usb loader, gx is my preffered loader but can be picky with usb sticks as they are not fast enough so I would suggest cfg, if the stick is formatted to fat 32 you can put the loader files on that but you will be using up limited space or you can put the apps on an sd card and put that in the sd card slot, you then plug your usb stick with games on it into the usb port that is nearest the edge of the wii...........to put games on the stick I suggest you use wiibackup manager which can be found in the downloads section, it is pretty straight forward and will add games to any format of drive whether it be wbfs or fat32. After opening the backup manager on your pc click on the tab that says drive 1 and select your usb stick then click on file and choose a game once you have chosen the games make sure they have a tick in the boxes then click transfer tab and select drive 1 as teh destination. This will convert any iso's to the correct format for the wii as well as being able to add wbfs game files (this is the only app that can transfer both iso and wbfs). Hope that's enough to get started with m8 but any further issues just shout up.....

As HH has said you only see the bubbles after clicking on Homebrew because you don't have any apps in the apps folder on the SD card.

It looks like you trying to save some money by using a USB stick to play games off. Your not really saving anything because USB flash drives are generally small but you can buy larger ones but those work out far more expensive than buying a powered external hard drive.

You may admit to being thicker than most but the instructions you have been given are very clear. Both myself and keith have already told you hbc does not hold apps that is the job of your hdd/stick or sd card, you have also given us no info as to what you have already installed, in saying that we cannot tailor our advice to suit particular needs unless we know how much of a softmod you have completed, what files you have used or what softmod method you have used....download and run modmii on your pc, select full softmod wizard and then follow the instructions from after installation of hbc but make a nand backup first if you haven't already done so....

Its not a matter of being thick its a matter of following instructions. We have both told you why you only see bubbles when you click on Homebrew.

HH has said the GX or rather USB Loader GX which you can download if you Google that name but thats the new v3.0 which HH says can be a bit buggy. So download Usbloader gx 2.3 r1128 and d2x v7 with mmm 13.4 and extract all files straight to the SD card, they will go into the correct folders. The MMM is Multi-Mod Manager (MMM) which is used for installing the wads.

Download Full Cios wad pack and put those in the wad folder on the SD card.

You will also need IOS236 putting in the wad folder.

Put the SD card back in the Wii. Click on Homebrew channel and you should now see Multi-Mod Manager, USB Loader GX and sysCheck if you have installed them on the card correctly. Run MMM and scroll down to WAD Manager and press 'A' that will show you all the wads in the wad folder. Now first of scroll down again until it selects IOS236 and press the + button so it shows a green tick next to it then press 'A' to install that wad. Press 'A' again on the next screen, after it has installed you should see a message installed ok. Click a button to go back to the wads. You now install the other wads listed but at the moment leave USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder_4_0_AHBPROT.wad you can unstall that to give USB Loader GX and channel on the Wii later.

In the Usbloader gx 2.3 r1128 and d2x v7 with mmm 13.4 download there are 7 d2x v7 wads which will get your system working you can install d2x v8.0 later after your system is working.

The next job is press the 'B' button to back out to the menu then press the Home button to exit.

While you are downloading you may as well download sysCheck and extract it to the apps folder. I you need to do a report do as intructed.

Now your back in Homebrew select sysCheck and keep pressing 'A' to generate a report of the wads in your system. Post the report back in here as instructed so we can see if anything else is missing.

At the moment selecting USB Loader GX probably won't work unless you have 1 game on the SD or flash drive.

So thats what you have to do so you don't see any bubbles when you click on Homebrew channel. Thats how you install any wads with MMM.

There are two other USB Loaders you can try if you want to. HH mensioned cfg which is Configurable USB Loader and WiiFlow if you wanted to try those but GX is the best.

Then you need to sort out a mains powered external hard drive not SD or flash drives.

Well I've tried to made it as simple as possible.

Now a while ago you could download USB Loader GX Easy Installer (latest) in that list which I did when I first softmodded my Wii over 12 months ago. It worked great you inserted your SD card into your computer and ran USBLoaderGX_Installer_v1.8.exe. That found the SD card and installed all the files to the coffect folders apps\usbloader_gx and the SD root: config folder where its stores all the game pictures and settings.

Now users have reported on here before that USBLoaderGX_Installer_v1.8.exe came up with an 4041 error no server access I think that was the number. I've just run it on my laptop without an SD card inserted and it saved all the files to C:\apps and C:\wad folder. When you run it you can select the USBLoaderGX Channel so that will save USBLoaderGX_UNLR.wad in the wad folder on the SD card so you can install that with MMM to give you a USB Loader GX channel.

Now I've assuming this is the v3.0 which is different from the v2.9 this creates a disc folder inside the apps\usbloader_gx\images\disc so I assume it saves all the game pictures in there now not in the config folder as before.

There is also an options to clean the Boxart and Disc Cover folder if your using the older version.

No I added the v3.0 to my SD card a week or so ago and when I run USB Loader GX all the game picture still show where they have always been in config. It does create a cache_bnr folder inside usbloader_gx where I have 4 *.bnr files with a game ID in front, I'm not sure what these are for they maybe the game settings for that game these refer to:

              Ju-On The Grudge Haunted House - PAL - RJOP99
Jewel Quest Trilogy - NTSC - SJQEPZ
Jewel Quest Trilogy - PAL - SJQPGR
The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword - PAL - SOUP01

I don't know why its saved those as I don't use any special settings to play those games.

See how you go on total newby and report back any problems a sysCheck report would be very helpful to use.

The game settings GXGameSettings.cfg, GXGameStatistics.cfg and GXGlobal.cfg are still in the config folder.

USBLoaderGX_Installer_v1.8.exe also brings up a web page https://docs.google.com/document/pre...h.499f37124ce5

I don't know why IOS236 won't install thats the first one you install for USB Loaders. Sometimes you have to keep on trying to install the wad it may go in.

Post a syscheck report so we can see your wads as they are now.

We don't know what your Wii version is the syscheck will tell us that.

236 is the first one you install but not the way you have recommended. It may work that way but not usually,, launch mmm as keith has suggested then go down the list until you get to patch and install ios 36 if you are connected to the internet and choose all four options this should also install 236

Have you read the above posts saying how to cure seeing the bubbles?

Why are you using Nintendo DSi does it show an error number?

Are trying to store wii games on the DSI drive?

Thanks again guys . cIOS 3.6 is installed, SysCheck 2.0 also. I have to agree with newby that the "automatic update" - I think option 7 of the MMM menu - doesn't work. All installs end error 2701.
Now figuring out what to do after that.
