vu duo remote problem

hi got vu duo original with black hole 1.7.5 and noticed i am supposed to be able to control remote to control tv.
but when i follow instructions in manual nothing doing at all just changes channel on receive.
does anybody know if or how to do this?
just to confirm i long press 1 and 3 together for around 3 seconds and program tv 4 digit code.
any help as always would be appreciated.

in answer to my own problem i do not actually have a universal remote even though the manual say it does.
never mind back to fiddling about again
